What does a strong B2B content strategy look like?
Starting from the beginning, there are two things that are of the utmost importance. And one is identifying your ideal customer profile. Secondly, knowing their specific pain points.
If we don't know who we're trying to talk to or what motivates them to take action, it's going to make our job a lot harder in the long run.
Two low hanging fruit but powerful content themes that I love and use not only for my own business but for my clients are thought leadership and social proof. The thought leadership features our expertise and how much we know and how experienced we are within our industry.
Secondly, the social proof is really a classic. Don't take it from me. Take it from the individuals who have seen success from working with us. So, shows them how smart we are and how good we are at what we do. Consistency is key. So, having consistent content across a variety of channels is going to provide significant increases in attention to your brand. And if you think about it, you don't have to create a diversity specifically in content across these platforms, but having a semi consistent schedule so that your audience knows what to expect not only keeps us honest, but it also keeps them in the awareness funnel, which is what we need so that when the time is right, they never forget that we're an option.
Anyone who knows me knows that I love video because I believe that video is one of the most scalable pieces of content on the planet because you can take video, turn that into graphics, extract that, turn that into audio, and vice versa. So having a solid mix of not only the channels that you're sharing your information on, but a solid mix of the types of content that you're sharing will help create a net positive effect in your content strategy.
And to tie it all together, you have to make sure that this is directly related to your goals and your revenue. Because like we talked before, if you don't have a plan or a strategy, then you're just guessing.
And if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
